Getting ready for Stafford...

It's been all go here at The Cub Mag Towers, with paper supplies arriving and boxes of mugs and tee shirts being piled up in the 'spare' room.  I don't think it's spare any more!  Issue One is now full to bursting and once I've done my bit I'll post up a little sample of the contents for you.

So you know what that means.  I now need articles, stories, technical tips, photos and anything else Cub and Terrier related for Issue Two.  Please send them to me gbc AT thecubmag.com but before you send huge photo files just let me know first in case it bounces back.

If you'd like to pre-order a tee shirt or mug for collection at Stafford you can use the same email addy - make sure you state what size tee you require.  The mugs are £9, tees are £10 and you'll be saving on all that postage and packing....

Bikes needed for Lanark Show...

ATTENTION SCOTTISH CUBBERS!!!!

The Scottish Cub Fest is still in need of many more Cubs and Terriers to go on the 12m x 2m club stand that we've been allocated at the NEW LANARK SHOW on 12th/13th May.

Displaying your bike on the stand is easy - you just need to email me gbc AT thecubmag.com and we'll put any Cub or Terrier in ANY condition up there, this is not just a concours display - but don't get me wrong, it would be good to have a nice shiny example or two on show as well, just to show people what is possible.

Please do get in touch. Not only is this the first Lanark bike show, but it will be the first Scottish Cub Fest, which hopefully, with enough support will go on to be a regular getting together of Cubbers in Scotland.

(Just to clarify, you don't need to be a Cub Mag subscriber to put a bike on the stand).

Don't be a mug...

Every biker loves a mug - the kind you can put coffee in I mean. These new Cub Mag Mugs will be on sale at Stafford 28th/29th April for just nine British pounds (that's £9 written normally) or you can buy them mail order + P&P. So, if you want a right bargain of a mug for your coffee while you're in the shed scratching your head over how to fix your Cub, this is the mug for you. Oh, nearly forgot, this one pictured here is a prototype - the real ones will have the slogan "Don't be a mug....buy The Cub Mag!!!" on them.

Issue One / tee shirt update.

The prep for Issue One is coming along nicely. In between farming, working in the day job, running the bike club, trying to build a shed, trying to get just one of my many bikes / projects going, and organising and planning to attend Stafford, Lanark, Shetland and A N Other Big Show (details later), I've finally got subscription forms out to just about everyone who was on the list and a few who weren't - thanks for getting in touch to give me a reminder nudge!

I have also just got my head around how PayPal calculate 'cross border fees', so if you're in any country other than Aberdeenshire, and you want to pay your subs by PP then it's all systems go, but I will need to add anything between 1.4 - 3.4% plus a few cents or francs or whatever your local currency is onto the total amount. It doesn't add up to much but it keeps all the costs covered. As much as I'd like to be able to fund the whole Cub Mag out of my own pocket, it ain't gonna happen!

TEE SHIRT NEWS -
Doing well with the tees, thanks for all the orders. There are only 2 XXLARGE, 3 LARGE and 1 MEDIUM left!!! Please place your orders for any other sizes from SMALL to XXXLARGE and I can get these on order in the next few days. Kids sizes are also availabe.

Tees can be posted out at the same time as the first mag or sooner if you'd prefer. Let me know when you email gbc AT thecubmag.com

Subs form is OUT OUT OUT!!!

If you've already been in touch with gbc At thecubmag.com then chances are you will have a subscription form for The Cub Mag waiting in your inbox by now. If you don't have a form waiting for you and you would like a form, then let me know. Today, it seems, I'm working with a computer just as cranky as these lovely old Brit bikes we're launching the mag about - how apt!

I Name This Bear...

Hold on, hold on, not telling you just yet. First of all, thanks for all the 'name the bear' entries; some were funny, some were just random names, others were more bike related. One of the funniest was Johnny Dep(uty Editor), but the most appropriate and the name that seems to suit the little chap, is Edward "Teddy" Turner. Of course! Actually, that's doubly appropriate really cos not only can you call the little dude Teddy, but you can call him Ed (as in Editor) as well. Although I get the impression that the great Mr Turner didn't go in for such informalities, but this is the modern world Ed, and even though your little bikes are still roaming this earth, other things have changed somewhat!

So after all that blurb, the winner is Stuart. Well done lad. We'll get your prize off to you as soon as we know what it is!
