Lanark Show 2013

I know it seems early but the info from Mortons re the 2nd Lanark show, to be held on 11/12th May this year, has already landed in the inbox.  The Cub Mag put a stand together last year entitled The Scottish Cub Fest, and we'd like to do it all over again.  If you have a Cub or Terrier, be it road, trials, race, project, pretty, not so pretty, used and / or lovingly abused, then we need you, and it, on the stand.  We can't help out with any transport costs or the like, but we are a friendly bunch and we'd like to meet you and your Cub (or Terrier, actually, especially your Terrier), and we could probably stretch to a cup of coffee, maybe even a biscuit too....  If you've never done this kind of thing before, all you need to do is transport your bike/s to Lanark on the right date, and help us set up the stall.  We have loads of Cub related posters, pics and bits and pieces but if you have some you'd like to show off, then by all means bring them along too.  We would like each owner to take a turn on the stall during the weekend, but if we all give an hour or so, you'll still have plenty of time to look around the show - which by the way, is ALL INDOORS this year, and the bikes are looked after by Security at night.  Then you simply pack up your bike and head home on Sunday after its all over.  Simples, as they say!  Each person who puts a bike on our stand will receive a free ticket to the show.  There is onsite camping for vans/campers etc and loads of B&Bs nearby.  So, if you're interested, drop Gorgeous Biker Chick a line to gbc AT thecubmag.com but remember to change the AT to @ and remove the spaces.....

From everyone at The Cub Mag we would like to thank all of our subscribers, advertisers and friends for supporting the mag in its first year.  Since April 2012, life in the publishing lane has been exciting and hectic, and jolly good fun.  So thank you one and all for making it worthwhile.  Don't worry, there really is no rest for the wicked; while you're all munching mince pies or taking your Cubs for a canter (don't forget the pictures please) the keyboard will be red hot and the printer will be a-whirring-away and we'll soon have the January issue landing on doorsteps across the world - USA, Belgium, Germany, France, Australia, Bermuda, Ireland, Malaysia and not forgetting every corner of the UK, from Shetland to Lewis to Dorset to Kent to Newcastle to Edinburgh.....

My First Bike ~ Keith Brady jotted down his memories of owing a Tiger Cub in the 1960s.  This article has received great feedback and has already resulted in submissions of more great tails, errrr, tales of Cub ownership in 'the good old days'.

See No Evil ~ a bit of a break from Cubs, this feature will usually be a non-Cub story.  This month, our man Stu went Terrier spotting at the big Banbury run.  He found one too - but no pics - anyone help with this???

Trials Time ~ a regular slot from Paul Beswick of Pre65 & Twin Shock Trials parts reporting of Tiger Cubs being hurled at rocks and thrown into cold rushing rivers of icy mountain water....

Price Watch ~ your regular guide to the prices that our favourite little bikes are fetching (or not).  Features both road and trials machine prices.

Budget Trials Cub ~ another top story which has had great response.  Dave Mayle talks you through his build of a trials Cub that cost him less than a thousand pounds.  I think we'll be seeing a range of home built trials beasts based on this feature.

Spotlight On: B&B Engineering ~ the story behind Brett Baxter from Cornwall, who makes all kinds of parts for Cubs and Terriers.

Technically Talking ~ you need to take the advice given by Pat Press seriously.  Change those main bearings!

Colourful Cubs ~ Mike Estall is known the world over as The Cub Guru, and is a keen contributor to The Cub Mag.  In part 1, Mike recalls his trip to Bermuda, where the passion for Tiger Cubs was colourful to say the least!

Cubbie Restoration ~ Gorgeous Biker Chick makes the nation wince as she confesses to yet more maltreatment of her 1962 Cubbie during the rebuild.

Show Time ~ The Cub Mag went to the new Lanark motorbike show.  It was fun.  No, really, it was!

I could not resist and was very surprised.  I think the Mag is great.  I loved the article on the first bike by Keith Brady so much so that I am tempted to write about my first Tiger Cub and the ill treatment and mishaps I had with it.  Of course it will be up to you whether you want to use it.  

I went to my bike club tonight and it seems that no one else has a Cub.  I will now read and fully digest all of the mag again.

Well, that's the third issue of The Cub Mag out, work will soon be starting on Issue 4, which will be with you in January.  Due to Christmas post and snow (no negative thoughts here) the Cub Mag postal department estimates a mid-January delivery date.  Keep an eye on this page for contents info - and most importantly, for anyone who started from the April 2012 issue, this January mag will be the last one that you receive, unless you renew your subs!  Again, more info on renewals to follow.
